Founded in 1993, Marathon Technologies is the only provider of fault-tolerant, automated, high availability and disaster recovery software for physical and virtual servers. Marathon’s everRun software prevents outages and data loss – without IT intervention - in Microsoft Windows Server and Citrix XenServer infrastructures.
Background
Marathon Technologies was founded by senior executives and engineers responsible for developing Digital’s VAX FT fault-tolerant systems. The team used this experience to create the first software and networking technology that allowed multiple Windows/Intel servers to operate as a single fault-tolerant system, delivering new levels of availability without the complexity and cost of traditional high availability and replication products.
In 2007, we broke new ground with our v-Available initiative, designed to bring continuous availability to virtual servers—an industry first. Today, thousands of customers around the globe rely on Marathon's everRun® software to prevent outages and data loss without IT intervention in physical and virtual environments. Now a software-only solution, everRun is less expensive, more effective, and simpler to maintain than cluster or disaster recovery failover technologies.
The latest generations of the everRun software suite, everRun 2G and everRun VM with Lockstep, both released in 2009, continue to deliver on our vision of making application and data availability a reality for all kinds of businesses. These next-generation automated availability platforms allow businesses to choose from multiple availability levels, from basic failover to server-level redundancy, with two fully redundant systems running in "lockstep" mode.
