Citrix & Marathon Technologies Alliance
Citrix® and Marathon Technologies have had a joint development and marketing agreement since 2007. The goal of this partnership is to broaden the adoption of both virtualization and high availability software by providing completely automated availability that is dramatically more reliable and affordable than traditional Citrix high availability and disaster recovery offerings.
Here are the highlights of the partnership so far:
September 2008
Citrix and Marathon announced that the XenServer™ HA capabilities in Citrix XenServer 5 virtualization software announcement were jointly developed by Citrix and Marathon. The significance of this announcement for the industry:
- Citrix XenServer customers now get auto-restart high availability – built by availability experts
- Because the XenServer HA capabilities were developed jointly, Citrix XenServer and Marathon everRun® are fully integrated for fast installation and easy configuration and management of virtual machines at three levels: basic HA, component-level fault tolerance and system level fault tolerance
- The combination of Citrix XenServer 5 and Marathon everRun VM is the first solution that provides selectable Citrix high availability and fault-tolerant protection for applications running in virtual machines
April 2008
Citrix and Marathon announced an expanded strategic partnership. The broader agreement involved tighter integration of Citrix XenServer and Marathon everRun, and establishes Marathon as a preferred high availability software partner.
March 2008
Marathon announced the general availability of everRun VM, the industry’s first software-only fault-tolerant, high availability solution – build to run on Citrix XenServer. The significance of this new high availability software for the IT industry:
- Companies can reliably run business critical and mission critical production applications in virtual machines, gaining the benefits of virtualization across a much broader range of applications
- It is now more practical to make high availability and disaster recovery a standard part of the IT infrastructure for midsize and larger companies
April 2007
Citrix and Marathon announced a joint development agreement to bring Marathon’s proven everRun high availability software to Citrix XenServer. Marathon selected XenServer as their initial virtualization platform because of XenServer’s open architecture, performance and ease of use best met Marathon’s time-to-market goal and mid-market customer focus.
