What if I already have Citrix XenServer Enterprise Edition, can I buy the everRun VM software as an add-on?
everRun VM is offered in two versions, everRun VM by itself for customers who already have Citrix XenServer™ Enterprise Edition or as an integrated package with XenServer Enterprise Edition v4.1.
Is everRun VM available for VMware?
everRun VM is available for Citrix XenServer only.
How does everRun VM differ from VMware HA?
- VMware HA provides ‘best effort' recovery with no guarantees that the necessary resources on the target server will be available. If you make any changes to the VMware target server, the resources may not be available and the failover could fail. everRun VM provides assured recovery as resources on the target server are automatically allocated and continuously monitored for health.
- VMware HA requires manual setup and testing. everRun VM is completely automated; setup, configuration, fault management.
- VMware HA only monitors network connectivity via a heartbeat. everRun VM continuously monitors all hardware components and takes immediate action to prevent or minimize interruptions.
- VMware HA heartbeat has to timeout before failover is initiated. everRun VM takes immediate action upon a failed component or server.
- VMware HA requires that all ESX hosts be connected to a common SAN. everRun VM works with a SAN but does not require a SAN.
- VMware HA SAN requirement limits geographic separation. everRun VM delivers geographic fault tolerance.
- VMware HA requires extensive training and specialized IT skills. everRun VM does not.
